Ash Black

Ash Black is made from white ash. White Ash has value as a rarity, because it is only produced in small quantities and can only be harvested in the coldest months when even the water freezes. The main feature of this wood is the beauty of its grain, which is unique in that no two pieces have the same pattern, and this is enhanced using Iwata's original black paint which is close to the jet black. This paint does not reflect the light, so you can enjoy the beautiful grain of Ash from any angle. Inside of the hole is also coated, so you can directly pour the water in it.

Walnut

Walnut is a broad‐leaved tree of the family Juglandaceae that is generally used in cabinetworks, crafts, musical instruments and so on. Walnut has a small tree form, and the whitish part of the wood near the surface of the tree is called sapwood. The inner dark brown part is called heartwood. It is hard, and its wood grain is dense and beautiful, but because the amount that can be taken is small, it has been used as expensive timber from long ago. Iwata uses only walnut heartwood with carefully selected grain.

The paint for the surface is the paint that Iwata took one year to develop with a paintmaker. It is a special urethane paint that sets off the original beauty of the original material.

Keyaki

Keyaki is the representative timber of Japan and it has a distinctive fragrance and beautiful grain. It is used for high-end crafts, furniture, temples, and important cultural assets. The whitish part of the wood near the surface of the tree is called sapwood, and the inner part is called heartwood. The products made by this heartwood are said to be the best quality products, and we only use the heartwood of Keyaki.

Oak

We use Japanese oak harvested in Hokkaido, which is in the northern part of Japan. Compared to oak from North America, Hokkaido oak has a dense grain and gives a delicate impression. It has a strong reputation as “Japanese oak”, not only in Japan, but also overseas. We only select Japanese oak of excellent quality and texture.
